About the 24th Dorking Scout Group
The 24th Dorking Group covers the Holmwood & Capel area with children from the surrounding area also joining us. We have a Beaver Colony for those aged between 6 and 8 years old, Cub Group for slightly older boys aged between 8 and 10 and a half years old and finally a Scout Group for those aged between 10½ and 14 years old. In addition we have a large selection of Leaders, helpers and supporters who make this group one of the most successful in the area.
When and where we meet
We meet on Tuesday for the Scouts, Wednesday for the Beavers and Thursday for the Scouts at the South Holmwood Scout Centre which is behind the old South Holmwood School on the A24 going towards Dorking. (We will add a map in due course for you!).
Activities
The range of activities is incredible and we are always doing something new and exciting. For example this term alone the Beavers visited BAZZAZ along with nearly 2000 other Beavers from all over Surrey for a Fun Day of activities which included climbing, caving, low ropes and quad bikes, as well as learning circus skills as just a few of the over 100 fun activities on the day. More details can be found on the Bazzaz website.
The Cubs have stalked on the Common and they have been to the Dorkign District Cub Camp at Walton Firs Activity Centre where they had 3 exciting days of camping and activities which left them tired and exhausted, (if not a bit smelly) when collected by their parents on Sunday. They are also working hard on their Communicator Badge and we still have the infamous WET WET WET! evening to look forward to.
On top of their normal program of weekly events and activities, the Scouts entered the County Hiking Expedition and are planning plenty of other exciting outdoor adventures this term including plans for their Summer Camp in Exeter.
