24th Dorking needs YOU
Volunteer:
“a person who freely offers to take part in an enterprise or undertake a task for the benefit of others”
“a person who works for an organisation without being paid”
As a voluntary organisation, we rely on people like you to help us provide memorable experiences for young people in Holmwood and Capel. At the moment, we’ve got a range of positions within the 24th Holmwood and Capel Scout Group that we’re looking to fill and you could be just the person we are looking for.
(Please note that you don’t have to have a child in the 24th Group to help with one of these positions)
The Scout Association is an organisation made up of volunteers who give freely of their time because they are committed to the aims and principles of the movement and enjoy working with and helping to develop young people in an informal educational context.
Scouting provides life-changing opportunities and adventure to both young people and adults. Volunteering with Scouts can enrich your life – don’t just take our word for it. A study found that over 90% of our volunteers believe that the skills and experiences they have gained through Scouting have been of relevance to their working or personal lives.
No matter what your skills or background, you can help inspire and provide skills for life to children in your area, make new friends, and have fun yourself in the process. You might find that you get as much out of Scouting as the young people you work with!
Week by week, our volunteers empower thousands of young people to learn new skills, make new friends and stand on their own two feet. They’re our everyday heroes. They shape young people’s lives for the better, and find out a whole lot about themselves in the process, too.
Volunteering is good for your mind and body:
*Volunteering helps counteract the effects of stress, anger, and anxiety. …
* Volunteering combats depression. …
* Volunteering makes you happy. …
* Volunteering increases self-confidence. …
* Volunteering provides a sense of purpose. …
* Volunteering helps you stay physically healthy. …
